What we do
USLocal is a local information site for New York, starting with jobs. The site works in Chinese, English, Spanish and more: employers post in their own language, job seekers read and chat with the AI in theirs, and the AI translates in between.
Years ago, Chinatown and Flushing were full of employment agencies. You walked in, told them about yourself, and they picked a place that fit you and vetted you for the boss. Then everyone moved to online job posts and the agencies faded away. Online is convenient, but nobody who knows the trade is there to screen and ask questions for you.
We want to bring that back with AI — a job matchmaker that never charges a fee:
- Job seekers: browse freely. When something looks right, open it and the AI asks you a few questions for the employer, tells you whether it's a fit, and with one tap recommends you to the boss. If it's not a fit, it suggests better matches. We never charge you anything.
- Employers: describe who you need, like talking to a friend. The AI clarifies the role, pay, housing and days off, and writes the job post for you. Job seekers talk with the AI first, and only good fits are sent to you. Your phone number is never public.
What we don't do
- We never charge job seekers any fee.
- We don't reject anyone on the employer's behalf. The AI only asks, organizes and recommends — the decision is yours.
- We never publish anyone's phone number. An employer only sees a job seeker's contact info after the job seeker taps "Recommend me".
